HFP Racing and the Ariel-Foundation Park partner to bring multisport racing to Mount Vernon, Ohio

Mount Vernon, OH – HFP Racing (HFP) and the Ariel-Foundation Park today announced a partnership to host the Ariel-Foundation Park Triathlon and Duathlon on August 29, 2021. HFP Racing will be adding this event to the line up in their Signature Event Series, which include the American Triple-T, Toughman Ohio, Tri CLE Rock Roll Run and Ohio’s season ending multisport event, the Ohio Fall Challenge.

“The Foundation Park Conservancy board is always considering new ways to attract visitors to Ariel-Foundation Park.  The opportunity to host a triathlon excites us because it not only will showcase this unique public space, but we will also be able to showcase Knox County’s two bike trails which converge at the park.  Triathletes will discover Mount Vernon has a vibrant downtown and will undoubtedly return. This event is a win-win for our community.” Melanie Bolender, Development Chair for the Foundation Park Conservancy

Granville, OH – We regret to inform you that the HFP Racing 2020 triathlon and duathlon race season has been suspended until further notice due to circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 Virus Global Pandemic. These circumstances around the World, Nation and the State of Ohio have made this a very difficult decision. However, Jennifer and I believe this decision is the right thing to do considering all the information available to us at this time from state officials and medical professionals that we have consulted with over the last 48 hours.

*Anyone that has booked lodging for the American Triple-T or Toughman Ohio events must contact the Salt Fork Lodge and Conference Center to have your booking rolled over to the 2021 date. Call 740-435-9000 to change your arrival date to 2021.

**Should the State of Ohio mandate change, we will take appropriate action and notify our multisport community immediately of any further adjustments.  If the State of Ohio mandate is lifted and our permits are reissued within an appropriate amount of time before the race date that will allow us to produce the event at the high standards set by HFP Racing, we will re-open race registration and the event will go on as planned for 2020. If the mandate is not lifted within an appropriate amount of time of the race date that will allow us to produce the event at the high standards set by HFP Racing, then the event will be rescheduled until the 2021 season and anyone previously registered will receive a code to transfer 75% of their race entry to the 2021 event date.

No Cash Refunds, No Exceptions – The HFP Racing current refund policy states we only offer 50% event entry transfers to another event in the same calendar year. However, due to the COVID-19 Virus Global Pandemic the policy has been updated to a 75% transfer to a 2021 event.

Why can’t we offer 100% entry fee transfers? We have already put in countless hours of planning, operational logistics and thousands of dollars have gone into the events on our 2020 schedule. All race t-shirts, finisher medals, finisher jackets, awards and swim caps for the entire 2020 season are in various degrees of production by our vendors. Nearly 90% of these orders are completed and many are already in transit.

The choice of suspending the races and closing registration rather than keeping registration open and hoping for the best is based on the following reasons:

  • This is a GLOBAL PANDEMIC – No one knows for sure what the future holds. It’s time to think about your family and friends. As of mid-March, the CDC is estimating the peak of the CoVid-19 pandemic to peak in early to mid-May. However, this estimate is based on numbers that change daily during every press conference and realistically it will last much longer.
  • Moving race dates to later in the season does not respect the dates of other hard working race directors in the state that are being forced to make tough decisions with their events and it certainly does not offer any guarantee that the event will take place on the later date.
  • Race Director Responsibility – Continuing to take race registrations during COVID-19 Virus Global Pandemic for events in the future that we don’t have 100% certainty that the event will take place is not responsible. It only further complicates things if the event ultimately is rescheduled to 2021.
  • Government Compliance – Mass gatherings of 10 or more people in the State of Ohio are currently prohibited and this mandate is likely to be extended.
  • This is for the health and safety of our participants and your families, race staff and safety personnel, volunteers

This announcement is an emotional one for us and the suspension of the 2020 season will be devastating for our family financially.  Our hope and prayers are that the mandate on gatherings gives our nation a time to heal and draw closer to our immediate family.

Cambridge, OH – The American Triple-T Fueled by Infinit Nutrition has officially SOLD OUT for 2020. Race officials announced today that this unique 3-day, 4-race event has reached the field limit of 400 participants in record time nearly 6 months before the May 29 – May 31 race weekend. The field is filled with triathletes from all across the United States and Canada. A total of 27 states and two countries are represented for this challenging event set to take place in Ohio’s largest state park. Highlighting the field is Olympian and professional triathlete Andy Potts.

We’re so thrilled at the response to the 2020 American Triple-T. We knew when we moved to our new venue (Salt Fork State Park) in 2019 we had a major hit on our hands. With a few course changes already in the works, the 2020 event will be even more epic!” Shannon Kurek, Race Director – American Triple-T

What IS the American Triple-T? Well, it’s everything you’ve heard it to be, and more. The event is so much more than your typical “triathlon weekend” — it’s a triathlon achievement of epic proportions for all who partake. It is 3 consecutive days of racing, gelling together 4 races covering a total of more than 70 or 140 miles for the weekend. You will find yourself swimming in chilly Salt Fork Lake, riding the challenging hills of Guerney County, and finishing with a demanding run on the park roads climbing and descending those same hillsides.

The event features a Super Sprint triathlon on Friday evening, followed by a Saturday morning Olympic (XT Division) and Sprint (ST Division) distance triathlons then repeats these distances at a 3:00pm race with the unique bike, swim, run order for the triathlon. Everything wraps up Sunday morning with a Half Iron (XT Divison) and Olympic (ST Division) distance triathlons.

Infinit Nutrition is proud to be the official fueling sponsor and excited to see the continued growth of the American Triple-T. This is a true grass roots event produced at the highest level. You’ll love the atmosphere HFP Racing has created at this event and the enormous challenge the 4 triathlons over 3 days provides.” Michael Folan, Infinit Nutrition Founder & CEO

For those not quite up for the challenge of 4 triathlons over 3 days there is a stand alone event that provides an opportunity to take on the final day of the American Triple-T. Toughman Ohio features a 1.2 mile swim – 56 mile bike – 13.1 mile run half iron triathlon. Only 50 spots are currently. [GET REGISTERED NOW]
