FIT Family Series @ Armco Park FINAL Confirmation

logo_armcoArmco Park had long been the private recreation area for the workers and employees of AK Steel. The park had been closed to public use since its inception until the grand re-opening on Saturday, March 28, 2009 when Warren County Armco Park was opened to the public.

Warren County Armco Park is nestled among the rolling hills of Warren County, located less than 4 miles of the City of Lebanon near the Warren County Airport in Turtlecreek Township — Lebanon, OH. Warren County Armco Park is situated on historic property originally occupied by the Shaker religious community and located between Shaker Run Golf Course and Otterbein Community.

This 311-acre park was acquired through a cooperative effort involving the Warren County Commissioners, Warren County Park District, Turtlecreek Township, Otterbein Community and assisted by a grant from ODNR for public recreation.

The park offers an executive 18-hole golf course, an adult softball complex, access to a 110-acre lake for fishing and boating, rental pavilion (enclosed with seating accommodations of over 200) tennis, basketball and sand volleyball courts, horse shoe pits, corn hole, natural area, shelters, restrooms, concession stand, picnic tables and grills.

Warren County Armco Park provides triathletes a swim in the Armco Lake while duathletes are treated to a flat and fast run through the park. The bike courses feature the rolling hills of Warren County before heading back to the park for a closing run on the roads within the park.

FINAL CONFIRMATION INFORMATION

Linwood Park is located on the shores of Lake Erie in Vermilion, Ohio, “A small town on a great lake.”

Also known to mid-west boating enthusiasts as “A great place to drop Anchor.”

The Linwood Park Company was formed in 1883, by a group of Germans inspired by the Methodist Sunday School Assembly at Chautauqua, New York. Land was procured in Linwood Grove, a former picnic grove.

The first year twelve cottages were built, with the superintendent authorized to grant 99-year leases on the lots.

The summer of 1884 saw the completion of the Tabernacle, the Chapel, the superintendent’s house, and a horse shed. The first 4th of July celebration was held and the summer fun began with families and friends vacationing there ever since.

Now home to a few year-round residents, most cottages are still summer vacation homes; some are occasionally available for rent by owners. The Linwood Park Cottage Owners Association is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization that supports the Park Company in its mission to “…purchase and hold land for the purpose of holding religious meetings on the same.”

This fantastic venue provides triathletes with spectacular swim courses along the spectacular Linwood Park beach. The Duathlete’s opening run is out and back featuring a run through the Lagoons and downtown Vermilion. The bike courses are demanding, featuring two Vermilion River gorge crossings. The race finishes with an out-and-back run through the Lagoons and downtown Vermilion with breathtaking shoreline views of Lake Erie for the entire course. This race is a must do for northern Ohio multisport athletes. More Information

FIT Family Series @ Caesar Creek FINAL Confirmation

logo_caesarcreek-2014The third stop on the FIT Family Series presented by Go Fast Multisport is at the beautiful Caesar Creek State Park on July 12-13. Triathletes will be treated to swim courses in the beautiful Caesar Creek Lake. Duathletes will start off with a fast out and back run within the park. The bike courses are described as rolling on mostly winding country roads surrounding the park. The final run is an out and back run that features a long section across the old dam levy on gravel roads. [GET REGISTERED]

Online registration closes at Noon on July 10th.

Water Quality Advisory Alert – Just as in 2013, the beach is OPEN but an advisory has been posted for those Children and Elderly as of July 3rd, 2014. This advisory WILL NOT change the July 13 Caesar Creek Triathlon in anyway. However, if the advisory is not lifted the July 12 Kidz Triathlon will be changed to a duathlon. We’ll have any updates on our Facebook page.

Both beginner and advanced swimmers will benefit from the specialized swim instruction and detailed course preview. Triathlon specific skills such as sighting and navigational techniques, pack swimming, drafting techniques, buoy turns, entry and exit strategies, tempo training and stroke mechanics will be covered! Q&A will follow. Create lasting improvements in your technique, performance and satisfaction this season with Liquid Lifestyles Premier Swim Instruction! All participants should be proficient at swimming 200 yds. continuously and comfortable in deep water

Where: Caesar Creek State Park – Waynesville, OH (map) / Clinic will begin at the official HFP swim start location
Schedule: Saturday, July 12: 2:00-3:00pm (Prior to the HFP Course Preview)

· Swim Suit / Wetsuit (optional)
· Goggles – We carry the Finis line of Open Water Goggles, designed specifically for optimal sighting in Triathlon. Available for purchase directly on site: HD Amber ($20) or Polarized Open Water Goggles ($40)
· Swim Caps will be provided – All participants will be given a Green Liquid Lifestyles Swim Cap to wear during the clinic to confirm registration status and improve visibility
