Season Opener at Deer Creek Quickly Approaching – May 31 & June 1

Located in the heart of Ohio’s agricultural country, Deer Creek State Park is one of central Ohio’s vacation showplaces. A collage of meadows and woodlands surround the scenic reservoir. This 2,337-acre resort park features a modern lodge, cottages, campground, golf course, swimming beach and boating for outdoor enthusiasts. [GET REGISTERED]

This venue offers courses that are mostly flat and fast with some rolling hills on the bike. Triathletes will be swimming along the beach in Deer Creek Lake. Duathlete’s opening run is out and back featuring a run across the Deer Creek dam levy. So, don’t forget your cross country legs. The bike courses are on mostly local country roads. The races finish with an out and back run that crosses the Deer Creek dam levy and heads onto a local country road. The run course is almost completely flat but does require extra effort when crossing the grass-covered levy. This race is a perfect “first race of the season” to get you ready for an exciting season of racing. [GET REGISTERED]

New for 2014 is a fully sublimated tech t-shirt. This shirt will give participants a more comfortable t-shirt that will be great for training or chilling in at dinner or the movies.

HFP Spring Into Summer Super Sale

spring_into_summer_sale_2014

HFP  Racing Springs into Summer with a 20% OFF sale!

Traditionally HFP Racing has offered an annual 25% off New Year’s Day (Jan 1-15) and 20% off Spring Super Sale (April 1-15) that gives our loyal customers a chance to save some money while planning their season AND don’t forget we added the 15% off Summer Super Sale in 2013 that was good for HFP’s August & September events.  However, this winter was just awful and the race season kind of snuck up on us. After our last snow storm of the year suddenly spring arrive and our first race less than a couple weeks later. So…while the HFP staff was down in Helen, Georgia enjoying our annual spring training camp we totally forgot to offer our traditional spring sale AND many of you let us know. Sorry 🙂 Since spring is well on its way we decided to re-name our annual spring super sale to the “Spring into Summer Super Sale” since we’re now nearly a month into the season. The sale starts at 12:01am on April 24 and will go through Midnight on April 30.

Looking forward to seeing you at the race.

Sincerely,
Shannon Kurek

American Triple-T Upgrades Bike Courses

AmericanTriple-T_poweredbySOMCRace officials from the American Triple-T announced today significant course changes to race #2, #3 and #4 bike courses.  All changes were made based on enhancing the safety and logistics of the courses. “With several major accidents on all of the courses at the same locations over the last few years I decided it was time to take a serious look at changing the courses. While addressing the safety issues for all of the bike courses we decided a 1-lap course for the signature half distance race would allow for a much more enjoyable final race from a participant perspective and provide our race team with much better logistics. We were able to keep the challenging integrity of the courses but remove some of the more dangerous descents and completely overhauled the Olympic PM course to what I believe will be a much more fun, enjoyable course for the participants.” Shannon Kurek, Race Director American Triple-T

Join Shannon Kurek and some of his staff on Saturday, April 19th to pre-ride the new 1-lap 56 mile bike course at 9:30am from the beach parking lot at Shawnee State Park.

Niagara Falls Barrelman Announced

Niagara Falls Barrelman

Our good friends up North at Multisport Canada sent HFP a note on an exciting new race at Niagara Falls. Looks to be fun for the entire family.

Here is the official announcement:

A new epic long distance race arrives in Ontario!

The Niagara Falls Barrelman is a triathlon consisting of a 2k Swim, 90k Bike and 21.1k Run, and while it is the same distance as other 70.3 and Half Iron events we believe it will be a race that will be unrivalled in many ways. Winding its way through the Niagara Region, the race has been designed with both the athlete and spectator experience in mind and the Niagara Falls location makes it very special for a number of reasons.

The immediate area has a multitude of attractions for the entire family and the race will be taking place during the Niagara Wine Festival. It will be the only race where athletes on the run course will go past the Falls twice – this alone should make it a special day.

There will be lots more news in the coming months but so far the Barrelman: announced $5,000 in prize money with all athletes being eligible, unveiled a unique commemorative Finishers hockey jersey and awarded early bird draw prizes totalling over $3,000 with more to be awarded to all registered athletes. Entry includes a long sleeve shirt and finishers will receive a Finishers Medal and Finishers Hat. Please visit www.niagarafallstriathlon.com for more details and to enter.
