Granville, OH – We regret to inform you that the HFP Racing 2020 triathlon and duathlon race season has been suspended until further notice due to circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 Virus Global Pandemic. These circumstances around the World, Nation and the State of Ohio have made this a very difficult decision. However, Jennifer and I believe this decision is the right thing to do considering all the information available to us at this time from state officials and medical professionals that we have consulted with over the last 48 hours.
The following events that have been suspended (or rescheduled to 2021) until further notice:
April 25, 2020 – OhioHealth Race for a Reason
(rescheduled to April 24, 2021)

*Anyone that has booked lodging for the American Triple-T or Toughman Ohio events must contact the Salt Fork Lodge and Conference Center to have your booking rolled over to the 2021 date. Call 740-435-9000 to change your arrival date to 2021.
**Should the State of Ohio mandate change, we will take appropriate action and notify our multisport community immediately of any further adjustments. If the State of Ohio mandate is lifted and our permits are reissued within an appropriate amount of time before the race date that will allow us to produce the event at the high standards set by HFP Racing, we will re-open race registration and the event will go on as planned for 2020. If the mandate is not lifted within an appropriate amount of time of the race date that will allow us to produce the event at the high standards set by HFP Racing, then the event will be rescheduled until the 2021 season and anyone previously registered will receive a code to transfer 75% of their race entry to the 2021 event date.
No Cash Refunds, No Exceptions – The HFP Racing current refund policy states we only offer 50% event entry transfers to another event in the same calendar year. However, due to the COVID-19 Virus Global Pandemic the policy has been updated to a 75% transfer to a 2021 event.
Why can’t we offer 100% entry fee transfers? We have already put in countless hours of planning, operational logistics and thousands of dollars have gone into the events on our 2020 schedule. All race t-shirts, finisher medals, finisher jackets, awards and swim caps for the entire 2020 season are in various degrees of production by our vendors. Nearly 90% of these orders are completed and many are already in transit.
The choice of suspending the races and closing registration rather than keeping registration open and hoping for the best is based on the following reasons:
This announcement is an emotional one for us and the suspension of the 2020 season will be devastating for our family financially. Our hope and prayers are that the mandate on gatherings gives our nation a time to heal and draw closer to our immediate family.

Please take a minute to review our response to the current COVID-19:
Oro Valley, AZ – After 15 years of coaching HFP’s annual training camp in Helen, GA I decided to head to warmer climates in Oro Valley, AZ in 2019. To better get to know the area and local training facilities I hand selected veterans of our camp to do the first year recon. The consensus from the 2019 camp was overwhelmingly positive to make the move to Oro Valley, AZ permanent. For 2020, we opened up the field to include more athletes and provided on course mobile support during all bike rides, giving campers the opportunity to stockpile nutrition and apparel needs. This became an important upgrade to the camp as athletes from A to C group riders were able to be fully supported on rides that took some more than 5 hours to complete. A huge thanks to Infinit Nutrition for their awesome support of the camp keeping us fueled (Infinit Nutrition GO FAR) and alert (Infinit Nutrition COLD BREW) the entire week.
I sincerely appreciate the continued support of this camp and have personally created long standing friendships through this annual camp that will last a lifetime. If you want a true epic test and a week to push you past your limits than mark your calendar for February 28 – March 7, 2021.
I look forward to pushing you to another level.
Coach Shannon Kurek
