American Triple-T @ Shawnee SELL OUT ALERT – ONLY 20 SPOTS LEFT

2015 American Triple-T

3-days, 4-triathlons, 140+ miles, 1-epic event

SELL OUT ALERT – ONLY 20 SPOTS LEFT

What IS the American Triple-T?  Well, it’s everything you’ve heard it to be, and more.  The event is so much more than your typical “triathlon weekend”, it’s a triathlon achievement of epic proportions for all who partake.  It is 3 consecutive days of racing, gelling together 4 races covering a total of more than 140 miles for the weekend.  You will find yourself swimming in the chilly spring-feed Turkey Creek Lake, riding the most technically challenging hills in the Shawnee State Forest region, and finishing with out-and-back runs along the fire roads climbing and descending those same hillsides.

The American Triple-T is not for the weak or faint of spirit.  It has humbled many triathletes who didn’t take it seriously, and it validates a host of others who test their “tri-mettle” at the “T” every year.  Athletes from all 50 states, and 4 continents have all sought the privilege of earning their American Triple-T finisher T-shirt.  Competitors, volunteers, and spectators all come away with a new appreciation of the sport and of the athletes who train and tame mind and body to complete this legendary event.

You’ll also come away with new-found friendships, and you’ll solidify those bonds every year you come together to face this demon.  There are even a special few who turned their initial shared experiences at the American Triple-T into a union of souls, and they came back the next year to compete as husband and wife!   While we cannot guarantee that you’ll find your soul mate at the “T”, we will guarantee an incredible, unforgettable experience unique in the triathlon world.

So please, take your time, peruse the website, and check out all of the unique aspects of this amazing event, then reach deep down and find the courage to sign up and join us at the 2015 American Triple-T on May 15-17.  It has boasted a SOLD OUT field for the past decade, and the excitement continues to build every year.  The race is limited to just 500 brave souls.  Save $50.00 by registering for one of the final 20 spots before 2-28 at Midnight!

HFP Racing December News

Merry-Xmas-2014It seems every time I write a newsletter anymore I’m surprised at how quickly the year seems to be going (I must be getting old). Well…here we are getting ready for the New Year and in a couple of days the majority of folks across the globe will be waking up to open presents for Christmas 2014. I really hope you have a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year.

This month started off tough for the Kurek household with the passing of our 14 1/2 year old labrador Zoey. She was such an amazing dog and my wife Jennifer often referred to her as her true best friend. Zoey watched over all of children while they were babies and was fiercely protective of them while they were in diapers. Later in her life she mostly looked forward to the evening walk with her labrador brother Dave. Over the last year Zoey had good days and bad days but she was always up for a walk in the nearby Denison Bio Reserve. Even the day of her passing Zoey walked the nearly 2 mile walk through the reserve with her tail held high and with a bounce in her step…just like when she was a puppy. Zoey-Girl-CloseupUnless you’re a dog owner it’s really hard to understand the emotional connection dogs have with their owners…they are truly another member of the family. It’s not the first dog in my life to pass on to doggy heaven but it was the first time that I broke down and sobbed uncontrollably with the passing of one of our dogs. I think Zoey so closely reminded me of what we’re all facing everyday…that we’re getting older but we still want to do what we really love. We all have different goals but ultimately we’re all struggling to do the same thing and that’s keeping healthy enough so we can continue to go on our version of that evening dog walk.

You’ll be missed Zoey.

Major overhaul for the 2015 Mohican Endurance Festival

Mohican B_02 (1)The second annual Mohican Endurance Festival will be on Sunday, June 28 and feature a Mini, Sprint, Olympic & Half distance triathlon and duathlon. All events will start and finish at the beautiful Pleasant Hill Lake Park in Perrysville, Ohio.

Triathletes will start and finish their swim from the beach at Pleasant Hill Lake while duathletes will be enjoying an opening run on the trails within the park. Following the opening swim or run participants will take on bike courses that feature the challenging terrain surrounding the the Mohican State Forest. Participants will finish their epic event with a challenging trail run featuring breathtaking views of Pleasant Hill Lake Park.

Each finisher will receive a coveted Mohican Endurance Festival Finisher belt buckle with the size determined by the distance conquered. Due to size limitations at Pleasant Hill Lake Park there will be a limit of 500 total participants for this event. We anticipate a very early sell out.

Online registration opens on January 1 during HFP’s Annual Super Sale.

Changes for the 2015 Mohican Endurance Festival

  • Sunday, June 28th race date (website will reflect this today or Friday)
  • Venue moved to Pleasant Hill Lake Park (across the lake)
  • Swim start/finish at Pleasant Hill Lake beach area
  • Transition area is just steps from the swim exit (eliminated 9% grade to TA 😉
  • Awesome new bike courses that will challenge all ability levels (and bring back memories of past races at Pleasant Hill Lake Park)
  • Challenging trail run within the park for all race distances
